RE: Landing Gear Problem

Sounds to me as if they did not find the true problem the first time. And, no, what you are doing doesn't sound out of line.

RE: Hidalgo Winter Lights _ RGV

I believe you contact the Hidalago Chamber of Commerce for tickets - or at least they can tell you who to call. The meal is so-so but presentable - served in the foam clam-shell containers and includes a drink & dessert - and was inexpensive. With reservations, you have a time to sit down to eat then you catch the trolleys right there when you are finished. We prefer the trolleys since they also narrate and have the route planned so there is little doubling back. They also point out other possible sits of interest. I'm not sure about the cost but it seems to me that it was about $10 per person - not bad, we thought. I can email my friend who goes each year if you want more specific info.

RE: RGV apartment size refrigerator wanted

Put a "Wanted" ad in the Winter Texan paper. You might have to wait until Dec/Jan for enough folks to come back down to have success, but it is a popular paper - mostly because the paper is free, I'm sure !!

RE: Full time RVing and working

Temporary employment services such as Manpower might work.

RE: "Chipper" The Cat

The right time is different for each of us...apparently this was the right time for you & Chipper. Thank you for adopting a shelter cat.

RE: Giving Your Dog A Bath

I do both of them in the laundry room deep sink. Maggie (4#)then gets rolled up in a bath towel and held until dry - not long! Katie (20#)gets rolled up in towels, then placed on a towel next to me on the sofa with a heating pad over her then a throw over that. She takes hours to dry and shivers with the cold until the heating pad gets her warm. Katie has such a nervous disposition that she would not allow anyone else to bath/groom her - Maggie would allow it but she is so tiny that it is too easy do to it myself.

RE: WHEW...!!!!! Close Call..!!

I did the same thing only to come back to find water across the bathroom floor. Fortunately it was about the 3rd rinse and just had started to overflow.

RE: Traveling cats

By all means, work out something to take them along. One warning; If you have them loose in the truck, crate them BEFORE you open any doors. They are very quick, as you know, and once ouside loose, almost impossible to catch. Sam hated riding in our diesel truck and loved being inside the closet in our 5ver - so much so that she would stay there even aftr we had stopped and opened up her door. I was not completely comfortable with the arrangment but she was so that is what we did. In the MH, she usually is under the sofa, or under the sink cabinet, or occasionally in her bed under the Euro chair - she is comfortable in any of those spots so she gets to choose unless I need her fastened up for some reason - like putting out.in the slides.

RE: Newmar Mountain Aire vs Tiffin Phaeton

Pardon me if I take exception to the statements that Phaetons are entry level.

RE: ideas on replacing screens in door with ?

I found that our dog's long hair clogged up the velcro and looked bad so we have the plexiglass held in with clips. It takes only a few minutes. We don't leave the door open in the rain, tho, for fear of damaging the door.

RE: Taveling with new partner

Yes, definitely do a few shorter trial campouts. She may be a wonderful lady but if she has to have 10 prs of shoes, 20 outfits, and 20 minute showers everyday, it ain't gonna work! If she hates bugs, occasional inclement weather, having limited menu options & a small spaces. it ain't gonna work. Living in each other's pocket isn't easy! There are other things I could list, but you get the idea. None of these things make her a bad person, just not a camper. On the other hand, she just might fall right into the lifestyle and love it and be a soul mate forever.

RE: I-10 Through Houston

We use the Sam Houston Toll way on our twice a year trip to the RGV. We've done the other ways but the SHT is just easier. Our 6 axles cost us about $15 from I10 to 59 and it is worth it!!

RE: large grapefruit??

In the RGV we get Rio Reds - they are very sweet, much better, IMHO, than Rubies. Seem to have a short season, tho. Can only get them when we first arrive Dec/Jan.

RE: I-65

No hills of any concern but, as said, that time of year could have ice.

RE: leaving home in winter

We set our furnace at 45. To be really safe, it is good to turn off the water supply to the house and drain the HWH. If that is not practical, at least turn off the water supply to the tank, the icemaker in the fridg and washing machine. Remove all house plants to a neighbor's (or take with you).

RE: Overnighting in Flying J??

Yes. And, yes, some of them have RV parking spaces. Some are not just real easy to get in/out of, tho. We've parked in the truck lots in a lot of truck stops but I can't remember if any were Js.

RE: Could this be a side effect of Spay Surgery? Ideas please.

No, spaying should not cause this. This is a behavior problem not a physical one, according to your description. You didn't give her age, but if she is very young I would just consider that you are starting over and it shouldn't take very long to get things back to normal. Why she is doing it, I haven't a clue.
